It’s been a long winter up here in Canada. The great lakes were almost completely frozen over and the wrecks were tucked away under thick layers of ice for a long winter’s nap. Now that spring is here, it’s time to start thinking about getting those regulators and other gear into your local dive shop (LDS) for their yearly maintenance.
Don’t forget, it’s not just your regs that should get some TLC, your BCD and of course your tanks (if you own your own) will need their yearly visual inspection as well. Look at your mask and fins, check the mask strap for any wear, it’s always a good idea to have a strap or two in your dive kit just in case, along with a second mask. How terrible would it be to be out on the boat and you break a strap, no one has an extra and no one has a spare mask… always be prepared!
Here’s what’s in my personal divebag:
- spare regs
- spare mask
- two mask straps
- spare batteries
- two sets of fin straps (although I use spring straps, these are for others… just in case)
- LOTS of snorkel keepers
- tools – screw drivers, wrenches etc..
- DIN to Yoke converters
- scuba tank pressure gauge
